so far i haven’t actually done any of the nail design requests i’ve gotten. A lot of them were silly and i’d have no interest in having them on my nails (“do superbowl nails!”) and some of them i really intended to do but whenever i sat down to start i’d get distracted with another design i wanted to try. then my cousin suggested yet another fine art-inspired mani for me to do. when i google-imaged it, i realized that if i ever were to actually execute one of these fine art pieces, this would probably be the one. according to wikipedia this piece was purchased by the ottawa gallery for about 1.8 million clams. alternately, the blue and orange are pretty much the exact colours of the denver broncos, so this mani is kinda like 2 birds 1 stone.

just a couple o’ quick manis here that i did for my trip down to the big smoke last week. whenever i travel i feel super busy and rushed and sometimes dont get time for nails and i’ll meet up w ppl and they’re like, what you dont have your nails done?? and then what kind of a nail blogger am i if i don’t even have mah nails did for lunch dates and stuff? so i did some solid colour manis that were real quick but cuz they involve different colours they still look interesting. i know ombre nails are a big thing sort of, im not a huuuuge fan..yknow where one nail is dark and gets progressively lighter from thumb to pinky. this is sort of like that but i only used 2 purples and a black (then added matte topcoat). it looked like i spent some time doing something different but its not exactly mind blowing. then when it started to chip i did an all purple mani and went shopping at joe fresh where like half the nailpolish in the store was 50% off, it was amazing. finally got some nail pens in white and black. so i added white hearts to this one and it looked cute. since my purple was 100% completely dry the pens worked really well, you just have to put it on thick.
aaand these are nails i did for my buddy while we were in the dominican and it was rainy one day.
im usually really good at controlling my spending on things like fun makeup and clothes and things that i want but don’t need. i know, so boring. but lately i’ve just been giving in to every temptation whenever i see a new polish that i want. case in point, three of the colours in this mani i bought on a whim, just because they were colours i thought i should have but didn’t. usually when i want something, i will look at it for a long time, decide it’s too expensive, come back to visit it often, think about it all week, then come back and get it if i really really want it. this is a pattern established in childhood, with a certain pair of shiny red shoes with a bow. there’s definitely a devaluing of things when you just see something you like and immediately get it. its too easy, there’s no meaning. its immediate gratification. things are just more treasured if you had to work hard to get it. that goes for lots of things, but in this case it goes for nail polish. the dark grey and maroon colours in this mani i pretty much just bought bc i could and didn’t even use right away, just tossed them in with all the others. thats not how a fun purchase should be!! you should be so excited to use it right away that you use it right away. so when i got this awesome tiffany blue polish, i felt i shouldn’t let it sit in my nailpolish box forever, it needed to inspire me. so it inspired me to use my neglected new polishes, in this super awesome fun mani. the only thing im sad about w this design is that the dark grey is too dark and you cant really appreciate that i did a gold leopard-print pattern on top of it. shoulda put that overtop the tiffany blue. ps. doesnt that colour totally look like a tiffany’s box? its called club prive but whatever, i renamed it.
